I'm also planning to stay on liquids only as long as possible. I used Perpetuem, Carbo Pro and Nuun last year at BW and hope it will work again this year. What kind of gels are you using?
Happy training and see you soon,
IrisIrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15793293012454929447noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4996109363017462615.post-16923333256046106422010-06-09T20:05:12.301-04:002010-06-09T20:05:12.301-04:00I had a lot of trouble with nutrition at Badwater ...I had a lot of trouble with nutrition at Badwater last year, and I attribute it most to the heat. I was lucky to have a great crew that found interesting ways to make sure I was getting enough calories.

In my last few successful 100-milers I changed my fueling strategy, and it has worked well. I've stuck with liquids only for the first 50-60 miles (until night). Basically, one bottle of Perpetuem with one gel mixed in every hour to two hours. Once night hits, I switch over to some solids, mainly in the form of soup. I will still throw a gel or two into my water bottle as well.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for both of us at Badwater. :)TonyPhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00781491037413964366noreply@blogger.com
